Hi! I’m Fiona. Many people online know me as “bluranerd”. I founded and write for The Key Source, a quarterly magazine made for and by mechanical keyboard enthusiasts.

When I’m not writing articles for the magazine, I do concert and portrait photography, film videos for clients or personal projects, and write even more over on my personal blog.

Non-fiction writing and photojournalism has been deeply ingrained in the work I make and consume for years. I strive to give a voice to stories that otherwise would remain untold.

The Key Source is an independent print and online magazine, founded by me and a friend of mine with one goal in mind: to make the mechanical keyboard hobby more accessible. While our online work helps give newcomers a good introduction to the keyboard world, our print magazine goes beyond the surface of simply reviewing the same products everyone else sees. By interviewing designers one-on-one and discussing the latest trends and history of the hobby, we reflect on aspects of the keyboard space that rarely are touched upon. We’ve shown our work at keyboard conventions globally, from the UK, to the Netherlands, and the US.

As a photographer, I’ve attended open mics, community events, concerts, and fundraisers capturing moments that otherwise would have stayed unseen. I find myself drawn to venues and places populated by those within the LGBT+ community and other marginalized groups. My hope is to make their lives and art more visible through my photography, and to capture people in moments where they feel the most connected to their passions and their community.

Alongside the magazine, I do videography and photography for clients, design graphics for social media, and post regularly on my personal social platforms to promote my work. I use Adobe Premiere, AE, Illustrator, and Photoshop for most of my content. I’d consider myself a true native of the internet space, and I’ve learned what makes the algorithm tick.
